Consultation has concluded

Council's Governance Unit has reviewed and revised the Fraud and Corruption Prevention Policy and the Unsolicited Proposals Policy as part of Council's regular timetable under the policy review program. Council's Public Interests Disclosures Policy has also been recently updated to reflect the requirements of the revised Public Interest Disclosures Bill 2022 (NSW).

Council resolved on 31 July 2023 to place these three policies on public online exhibition.

The Fraud and Corruption Prevention Policy's intent is to set out Council’s objectives in relation to the prevention, detection and investigation of fraud and corruption in all Council activities. This policy applies to Councillors, all Council staff, individuals who are engaged as contractors working for Council, and other people who perform public official functions on behalf of the Council, such as volunteers.

The purpose of the Unsolicited Proposals Policy is to stimulate and encourage business investment and innovation in the City of Wollongong and ensure transparent and ethical behaviour; and to make certain that unsolicited proposals of benefit to the City of Wollongong, are pursued and realised.

The Public Interest Disclosures Policy establishes an internal reporting system for staff, Councillors and contractors to report wrongdoing without fear of negative consequences. The policy sets who can receive reports of wrongdoing in Wollongong City Council, what can be reported and how reports of wrongdoing will be dealt with. Complaints cannot be made by the general public under this policy.
