Draft West Dapto Development Contributions Plan 2024
Consultation has concluded
West Dapto has been established as a priority urban release area in various state and regional planning policies including the Illawarra-Shoalhaven Regional Plan 2041 (NSW Government, 2021).
The West Dapto Vision (Wollongong City Council, 2018) anticipates that the West Dapto Urban Release Area will provide around 19,500 dwellings and will house a population of about 59,000 people once fully developed over fifty plus years.
The West Dapto Development Contributions Plan establishes the local infrastructure needed to support this development and ensures it is strategically planned and delivered, as well as providing an equitable funding source.
What has been updated?
The Draft West Dapto Development Contributions Plan 2024 (the Draft 2024 Plan) is the next review of the current adopted 2020 Plan. Updates were made to infrastructure items, the cost of land and works and indicative delivery timeframes. It considers five remaining 2020 Independent and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) recommendations, and several other changes (see the Council Report and its attachments).
Council resolved on 30 October 2023 to place the Draft 2024 Plan on public online exhibition.
What happens next?
Following exhibition and consideration of any submissions, the Draft 2024 Plan will be updated to incorporate any relevant post exhibition amendments and submitted to IPART for review. When the review is complete, IPART will make recommendations to the NSW Minister for Planning and Public Spaces (Minister). Following that, the Minister will direct Council to adopt the 2024 Plan with or without amendments.
